Yes, I return from Jersey alive and well. Nothing horrible happened except for almost missing my flight, but I won't go into that. *laughs* I'm going to practice something I rarely do: diligence. I plan on posting one or two pictures every day until I've gone through the whittled-down stack of my old work and have reached my most recent pictures. I had close to sixty some art pieces I was going to post up, but I chose my best/favorites and cut the pile in half, thank goodness. Most of the ones I left out can be found in my old journal gallery on Gaia (check first post).

This is an extremely old picture...well, maybe it's not as old as I may think if I sit down and consider it. Only a few years...but anyway, during that time I wasn't able to draw anything apart from doodles on the margins of my notes. Final exams and finishing projects and the like took up all of my free time so I wasn't able to draw anything proper for about four or five months. Therefore, I took advantage of the first few days of Christmas break and drew Haruhara Haruko, my favorite character from FLCL (Fooly Cooly or Furi Kuri). Manga or anime, I love both. I think the original drawing is on one of the DVD covers.

I was about 13 when I drew this, and looking at it now, I'm impressed I did so well when I didn't know how to use correct proportioning yet, let alone what proportioning was at all. I purposely left out the amp because I didn't feel up to the challenge of trying to draw it. And I haven't noticed until now that I also left out the stickers on the bass and the design on her shirt. *laughs* I guess I wasn't up to the challenge of drawing those either. The bass itself is completely out-of-whack. I never would have thought about using a ruler. *laughs* The body and neck of the instrument are stretched and warped, but I thought Haruko herself turned out quite well, apart from very subtle differences.
